Village by village
Reston was built as a set of villages rather than a single subdivision, and each one has a different housing stock, pace and set of tradeoffs.
- Lake Anne: the first village center, with the original waterfront plaza.
- Hunters Woods: the first village center in South Reston and home to the main Reston Community Center.
- Tall Oaks and the Uplands: 1970s homes, extensive green space, and the closest part of Reston to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station.
- South Lakes: largely 1980s construction between Lake Thoreau and Lake Audubon, near the Walker Nature Center.
- North Point: the northernmost village.
- Reston Town Center: mid-rise and high-rise condominiums next to the Silver Line.
